did you know that thanksgiving is just around the corner? I was giving someone a haircut yesterday and almost lost a finger when they pointed out the proximity of the major holidays. sometimes I forget how to be a grownup. like preparing for this stuff in a non-hysterical, haphazard fashion. omg! crafty crap freakouts that never get completed! wait, I have to figure out food and gifts and still keep everyone here alive?
all that to say – I got THIS done. perfect for thanksgiving, right?
Violet asked for it after halloween, and she needed more leggings anyway. especially leggings with femurs and tibias. tiny detail….but I added a fracture to her shinbone where she broke it as a 2 year old.
Violet has been under the weather (what does that even mean?), as has Clover. that’s why she looks like a raggedy mess. plus she’s allergic to band aids and keeps picking a scab on her face. paper tape to the rescue!
Hawthorne has just come down under the same weather as the girls now, and Tim is headed there. I’ve been hobbling around after falling down the wood stairs on Friday while holding my sweet little man. Trashed my butt and lower back, but the boy made it unharmed. The wonders of mommy instincts. I tucked him in like a football and took the punishment. Then I called daddy home and spent the rest of the day in bed, thanking God that my baby was ok.
For the shirt I made my kajillionth flashback skinny tee. Leggings came out fabulous too. I just got the Figgy’s sunki leggings pattern and put it to good use. The waistband looks great with the professional elastic insertion method IMO.
Fabric is super stretchy modal knit from Finch in Leesburg. This stuff was amazing to sew with. It doesn’t curl up! And for some reason it’s very easy to cut despite being kind of thick.
I hand-drew the stencil on freezer paper and used white and glow in the dark fabric paint. That’s right. Them bones glow!
She loves it all
