I’m joining the Union Stree Tee blog tour today, and boy do I have some awkward photos of me wearing an awesome tee shirt! The Union St tee is a great tee pattern, which includes a variety of options like scoop/V neck, and four different sleeve lengths. It’s a basic, but a well designed basic. So it’ll fit well. Which is key.
I find taking blog pics of myself…….awkward
But kids get props to break the ice. Why not mom?
There. That’s better.
Now we can move on to the details.
When I told my husband that I made this tee shirt, he was like “what! I didn’t realize…but I LIKE it. I really do!” Best compliment ever. Although it’s a little unnerving to realize that the best compliment is when they can’t tell YOU made it…..
The Union Street tee pattern from Hey June didn’t disappoint at all, guys. I really like it too.
Do you like my blogger pose? The “I’m pretending to see something captivating on the ground while I click my remote control shutter thingie, because honestly it’s really awkward to make faces at a humanless camera” pose. Money.
But in other news, I love this shirt! V necks have always been my favorite style of tee, but they are kind of mysterious and elusive when it comes to DIYing. Adrianna walks you through it in baby steps, and it really works. Trust me, if I can do it, you can too.
My trusty sidekicks, those big personalities trapped in tiny bodies, were right there waiting to do my photo shoot. They pretty much expect to be thrown in front of the camera these days. And they’re just so cute! Gah!
They helped me set my focus by posing on the wall a few times…..yes, Clover has a fabric crown on sideways and Violet is flashing her ninja turtle undies. I still think this photo below is awesome. Lol.
I swear, they make almost every picture better
But back to the tee. I checked the measurements on the sizing chart for the pattern and made my decision based on that. It worked out great. I really love the fit. Adrianna, you nailed it! I wore this proudly to the library today and had an extra spring in my mom step. If it were less than ten thousand and a half degrees fahrenheit here I would have been rocking a handmade slouchy hat to go with it….. and my ultimate outfit would have been realized. All you people in the southern hemisphere are just lucky!
Adrianna also gives you recommendations based on the type of knit you’re using. I used some amazing bamboo knit from Finch sewing studio. It’s got a touch of spandex in it too which is great. And it’s MUSTARD AND STRIPED. That’s pretty much a definite winner for me every time. Plus this stuff sews like buttah. It’s lightweight without being tissuey and a pain in the ass.
Hawthorne even joined us for this shoot, when he decided to take time off of ransacking all the stuff I wasn’t paying attention to while we clicked and clicked.
Also, it’s always fun to realize what your legs really look like when you’re going through blog photos. So great.
Mostly he spent his time grumping in a shelving unit though. Lol. Sorry little man, your fussing is kinda cute though. Ugh. This face! I just want to munch on it all day.
This next sequence is titled “sure kid, I’ll let you click the remote button for me“
And now you know what the back of my shirt looks like. Even better than the front because you can’t see my face!
I’m still sad that I forgot my beer can prop when we started doing this. I fully intended to sit on the floor and pretend to drink a brewsky at 10:30 in the morning. Only later did I discover that my friends recommend a swift glass of something potent before a photo shoot to alleviate the awkwardness of it all. Who knew! Now I’ll be doing more than pretending. In my next shoot you’ll just see me drinking beer.
And now this is the end of my post. I know right? You were thinking “what other awkward things was she going to do in front of the camera? Wear a Yoda hat?” No. I only do that for Christmas photos.
You next move will be to head on over to the Hey June shop to pin/buy the Union street pattern because it’s awesome.
I know it’s a silly thing, but I feel kind of empowered now. I have the ability to make my OWN v neck tee in any fabric I want and any size/sleeve style I want. Kinda cool right? It’s just a good feeling when a pattern really works well. I could really choose my own fabrics and make my own favorite tees. Crazy!
After you’re done going to the pattern shop, you can also head over to see what Stacey has made at Boy oh Boy oh Boy Crafts
Oddly, we ended up on the very same day of the tour and we live in the same geographical area. YET, we have never met each other in person. This is probably due the fact that I rarely get out from my hermitage. But still. This has to happen sometime, right Stacey?
And lastly, thank you for stopping by. Leave a comment and say hi!
