Ok, I know I already showed photos of the tandem Halloween costumes for Hawthorne and Violet, but I tried to take better ones once I had the props situation figured out. Then I make this awesomely dorky altered photo to go with it….
Hawthorne was pretty noncommittal to the whole photo shoot thing. He was more interested in throwing himself down a ravine and trespassing on our neighbors property.
He’s just another difficult child star
Plus it was also noon when I took these shots and of course the sun was just beating down and I couldn’t get anyone to stand someplace shady. Nobody just stands anywhere. The dart and flit.
But at least I got some better shots of Violet than the early dawn ones from the other day. And how cool is her umbrella? In the book, the penguin has a cane umbrella that’s yellow and orange and has a little tag dangling from the handle. The Penguin’s probably came from some neat vintage shop. Mine is from Amazon.
I didn’t have it in me to go out and get paint and fuss with changing the black umbrella, but I’m pretty sure Oliver Jeffers won’t mind when he comes across this. Haha. Right. Say hi to Bono for me!
I’m also pretty sure that if the Penguin in the book had access to a Target, he too would have been sporting light up Avengers shoes.
The Penguin also has a little suitcase that he carried around, which is why Violet is carrying the leather thrifted purse I snagged a long time ago.
Well. There you go! We officially did Halloween already with the kids, having taken them to a Monster Mash nearby and letting them see Rocknocerous (one of Violet’s favorite bands), trick or treat tons of booths that local businesses had set up, run around in a bubble machine, get sparkly art on their arms, and eat hot dogs and fries afterwards.
I counted 23 Elsas there and then finally quit keeping track. 3/4 kids in line ahead of us at the arm painting booth were Elsa. The other one was a boy. I’m still not sure how I escaped the inevitable Halloween Elsa dress, but Clover really pulled through for me. Haha. Hope you have a fun Halloween!
