ICE!! Clover is getting her Elsa on in her new upcycled tee. This season’s theme for Kids Clothes Week is “Upcycled” which works for me, because I love reusing unwanted clothing items to make kid stuff.
“Um, Clover did you see that the collar is Elsa blue. It’s basically a frozen shirt….” *Clover gasps* *Clover ices me and then runs away singing (caterwauling) Let It Go*
This girl burns holes through the elbows of her shirts like her father before her, and the fabric I snatched from an old maternity tank is really flimsy. So I took leftover scraps from the green stuff and added elbow armor.
She just iced the bunk bed. Nothing is safe. She needs some true love or something to thaw her heart.
Queen Elsa seems to have some food on her face. I’d like to blame it on the hours I spent slaving at the sewing machine, but it’s run of the mill barely scraping through the day with three kids at home all day, let alone keeping everyone looking tidy kind of stuff.
She’s faring better than the Captain America minifig that got poop on himself while too close to a diaper change sabotage move from Violet this morning, though. Blueberry juice > poop.
ICE! The green stripe fabric is from a maternity shirt that dates back to two pregnancies ago. There was a bleach hole in the front that was fodder for mockery from my husband whenever I wore it (while not pregnant, no less) so I threw a fabric scrap over that junk and made it into a Clover tee.
Pattern is the Field Trip raglan from Oliver and S. 4T, lengthened a couple of inches. It’s really loose on my skinny almost 6 year old. She could probably do a 2T pretty easy since loose tees seem to bother her. Once I got it cut carefully and strategically, and interfaced the patch, it sewed up in a flash. Whoosh. ICE!
Hopefully I’ll get some more scrappy stuff whipped up for the little man before the week is over! It’s been a bit of a rough start for us as a little stay at home family this week. I’m trying to manage priorities like paying attention to them/reigning in the chaos. Our Homeschool is very eclectic and loose and mostly literature based at the moment, because normally that’s what works best for us. But even that is a fail this week!
Lately we’ve been doing things like……
Watching the garbage truck drive by
Being sick but playing in the snow
Making snow angels
Being rad in the snow
Being white and nerdy. Violet is obsessed with phonics, and I had to change up which book we were using. So far so good on the 100 easy lessons. A Little Princess was inspired by the new Wild + Free homeschool community/magazine bundle I’ve tried to jump into lately. I’ve also been into the Charlotte Mason Living community
Touring fire stations with our lovely homeschool field trip and activity co-op
Playing some more in the snow
Owning the Library
Getting fresh air in winter
Investigating fairy forests
Watching ice sculptors
Family movie night
Really enjoying those new underwear
