My baby turned two this week. Rude. It’s like my kids are all basically grown up at this point. His snuggles and neck hugs are still prime though, so I’m not complaining yet. You’ll hear about it when he stops nursing though.
He’s superhero obsessed and already has an encyclopedia of info developing in his head. One of his favorites is Batman though. So of course I obviously I had to make him a Batman shirt for his big day.
With a cape. Because, capes! Batman cape shirt > Batman shirt with no cape. How about those fresh new red rubber boots from Grandma? Seeing him in those will get someone pregnant, which is ironic considering they’re rubber…..oh. Nevermind. Ha.
We went out to coffee today and he did some major stealthing at an antique shop. Violet wanted to know why I wouldn’t let them go inside.
It was hard to explain why exactly.
I just told her to trust me.
The tee is made with the Rowan pattern from Titchy Threads. Fabric is from Finch Sewing Studio. A beautiful hemp-organic cotton blend. I wanted him to have a classy birthday batman shirt. Is that unreasonable? Stencil was done by me with freezer paper.
And the cape is built in. I have a super old tutorial for it if you want to make one like it.
He saw an instagram photo of the shirt before I gave it to him on his birthday, and kept saying “that’s batman shirt? I touch it? I wear it?” So cute.
Want to see more birthday pictures?…..
I tried to think of what would please a 2 year old boy on his birthday morning, and wound up getting “banoons”, spiderman of course, getting a picnic together, and going to a playground to climb and then jump into a stream with his clothes on.
He liked it. He even handled the part where his balloons came untied and flew away during our picnic with manly grace. Don’t worry. I took all the kids back to Wegmans to get the balloons replaced after they got real nice and muddy.
A crunchy kid feast. Mango kombucha, fresh blueberries (I only ever buy frozen for a lower price since I insist on organic for those and strawberries), and sweet and salty popcorn in a bag. Clover still seems to prefer my stove popped corn over anything I’ve gotten bagged, which is a miracle because she usually looks at my food like Calvin looks at his mom’s green alien slime meals.
toddler drinking from a jar!
I confiscated his birthday shirt and told him to get in.
The princess and the wild thing got in too
We headed back to the grocery store to replace the little man’s balloons looking like a bunch of rednecks.
I made him a rad birthday crown with animal print and a leather tip. He hates it. Oh well.
Devils food cake from the Primal Cravings book. Chocolate buttercream, guys. So good.
He’s not really into cake, but he dipped his finger in there and tried it.
Then he wiped it off like a proper gentleman.
Happy birthday to my sweet, beautiful, precious baby boy.
